Why do I need an NKU All Card?

All students, faculty and staff must have an NKU All Card.  Your All Card is your official NKU photo ID, and is necessary for you to order a parking permit, access your NKU email/network accounts, web classes, buildings, use Blackboard, computer lab printing, libraries, health center, copiers, laundry rooms, and participate in special events and campus elections.  Your All Card can also be used to make purchases at dining facilities, vending machines and the NKU Bookstore.

How do I get an NKU All Card?

New students should visit the All Card office during Orientation, OR as early as two weeks before classes begin and at least two business days after class registration.  Please bring a current driver’s license, state-issued photo ID, or passport.  It takes just a few minutes for us to take your picture and make your All Card.  New employees should visit the office after hiring paperwork has been entered into the HR system.

Is there a cost for the NKU All Card?

Your first All Card is included in your tuition and fees, and should last throughout your time at NKU, even if you skip semesters.  If your All Card is lost or stolen, a replacement All Card can be obtained for $10.  An All Card that does not work due to normal wear will be replaced for free if you bring it to our office.

Why should I add money to my All Card?

By adding money to your All Card Dollar account, you can enjoy convenience and savings at drink vending machines (10%), campus dining locations (6%), copiers (50%), and laundry (discounted).  You can also use this account to make purchases at the NKU Bookstore, snack vending machines, to pay library fines, and for computer lab printing.  You don’t have to worry about carrying cash.  It’s a great way for residential students to supplement their meal plans, and for non-residential students and faculty/staff to take advantage of campus discounts.

How can I (or my parents) add money to my All Card?

Your All Card Dollar account allows you the convenience and savings of making purchases on campus without having to carry cash.  You can add money to your NKU All Card at the All Card website: credit card, $25 minimum; in the All Card office: cash & check, no minimum, credit card, $10 minimum; or at the Steely Library 3rd floor CVC machine, $1-$20 currency. The amount in your All Card Dollar account is reduced with each purchase that you make.  Web deposits are applied to your account no later than the next business day.  Deposits made in the All Card office and Steely Library are available immediately.

Do I lose unspent All Card Dollars at the end of the semester?

Good news!  Unspent All Card Dollars carry forward to the next semester, and remain on your account until used.

How can I check the balance on my All Card Dollar account?

All Card balances can be checked wherever you make purchases: vending machines, copiers, laundry rooms, dining services locations, bookstore or the NKU Pay For Print website.

I want to sign up for/change my residential meal plan.  What should I do?

Residential students can sign up for and make changes to their meal plans by contacting the NKU University Housing department in Norse Commons.  Changes must be made within the first two weeks of each semester, so make sure you know which plan you are on, and how to use it.

I want to sign up for a non-residential (commuter) student/faculty/staff meal plan.  What should I do?  The NKU Dining Services website has details about the commuter meal plans.  You can purchase a commuter meal plan by using your credit card on their website.

Can I use All Card Dollars in addition to a residential or commuter meal plan?

Yes!  Meal plans with dining flex can be used for food only.  All Card Dollars can be used by all cardholders for vending, bookstore, laundry, copies, dining, and computer lab printing.  All Card Dollars are an excellent way to supplement a meal plan, and for all cardholders to enjoy discounts and convenience on campus.

How do I use my meal plan?

Once you have purchased a residential meal plan through the University Housing office, or a commuter block plan on the Dining Services website, you simply present your NKU All Card at the authorized location(s) and tell the cashier that you have a meal plan.  Your All Card will be swiped, and a meal deducted.  If you have dining flex attached to your meal plan, and/or All Card Dollars, let the cashier know what you want to use at the other dining locations on campus.

What is an ISO number?

Your ISO number is the same as your NKU All Card number.  It is a 16-digit number that is assigned when your All Card is made, and it allows you to access your NKU email/network accounts.  Account access is normally available one business day after you receive your All Card.

How do I access my NKU email/network account?

One business day after your NKU All Card has been issued, you can find your NKU email and network username at: http://www.nku.edu/password.  Blackboard can be accessed at http://learnonline.nku.edu/.  Additional assistance is available at http://it.nku.edu/ .

My All Card has been lost/stolen – what should I do?

Contact the All Card office immediately and we will put a “hold” on your All Card so that no one else can use it.  If you find it, stop in our office so that we can take off the hold.  If you don’t find it, we can issue a replacement All Card for $10, and reactivate your All Card Dollars and other functions.  Once you have a replacement All Card, your old All Card will no longer work, and cannot be reactivated.  If you use your All Card for door access, be sure to notify the University Housing office or university department that your All Card number has changed.

My All Card doesn’t seem to work any more – what should I do?

Stop in the All Card office so that we can check your All Card.  If your All Card stops working due to normal wear, we will replace it at no cost.  If it has been deliberately damaged (hole punched, etc.), there is a $10 replacement fee.  If we issue a replacement All Card with a new All Card number, you will need to notify the University Housing office or university department that your All Card number has changed for door access.  If you are trying to use an old All Card that has been replaced, it cannot be reactivated.

How is the All Card connected to U.S. Bank, and how do I sign up?

If you choose, you may have your NKU All Card linked to a free U.S. Bank checking account by contacting the U.S. Bank branch in the NKU University Center.  This makes your All Card an ATM card, and a pin-protected debit card for off-campus purchases.  Many students, faculty and staff  find this to be much more convenient than having two separate cards.  (Please note: the U.S. Bank account is separate from the All Card Dollar account).  You may also choose to have your NKU financial disbursements direct deposited into your free U.S. Bank checking account instead of waiting for a check to be mailed.  You can sign up for free direct deposit through Norse Express: Student Services, Student Records, U.S. Bank Refund.  Contact the All Card office or U.S. Bank campus branch with any questions.

I’m taking web classes only.  How do I get an All Card?

If you have not been issued an NKU All Card, contact the All Card office by email two weeks prior to the start of the semester to request one.  Include your full name and the last four digits of your ssn.  This is an accommodation for web course students only, who live too far away to get to campus.  If you will be taking any classes on our local campuses, you will need to visit our office for an All Card so that we can take your picture.

I’m a returning student.  Will my old All Card still work?

If you have the blue NKU All Card, it will be automatically re-activated when the semester begins.  You do not need to get another All Card.

I attend evening classes.  Can I get an All Card then?

The All Card office is open two evenings a week during Fall and Spring semesters, and one night a week during summer.  Check our web page, front door, or call us for current information.

I’m out of All Card Dollars!  How did that happen?

If you would like to see a history of your All Card Dollar purchases, please stop in the All Card office, and we will print it out for you.  All requests for histories must be made in person, or in writing by the individual named on the account.  We hope to have an on-line product available during the Fall, 2008 semester that will allow access from your PC.
